Profile

My purpose is to promote instrumental music within the lives of people of all ages. I do this through teaching music in public schools and private lessons, music performance, recording and leading music workshops.

Experience

Band Director-University Preparatory Academy (2010-present)
My position teaching music through band includes starting beginning wind and percussion players from scratch, up through advanced ensembles that compete and perform throughout California. Special emphasis is placed on student leadership, music composition, music literacy and performance.

Drum and Percussion Instructor- SJG School of Music (2006-present)
I teach drum and percussion techniques, reading and performance starting with beginning and intermediate students up through college preparation.

Band Director-Redwood Middle School (2012-present)
My duties here vary from leading rehearsal of the entire band and sectionals to assessing students in music theory and music performance assignments.

Freelance Drummer and Percussionist (1994-present)
Highlights of my freelance experience: I have worked under Eric Reed, Joshua Redman, Bob Kenmotsu, Mark Levine, Matthew Clark, Marcus Shelby, Howard Wiley, Kenny Brooks, Eric Crystal, Darrell Grant, Dayna Stephens, Bishop Norman Williams, Calvin Keys and Joel Behrman.
