Profile

My purpose is to promote instrumental music within the lives of people of all ages. I do this through teaching music in public schools and private lessons, music performance, recording and leading music workshops.

Experience

Bandleader of The Jemal Ramirez Group with Warren Wolf (2015-present)
Compose, drum, select and arrange music for recordings and performances. Edit, mix and master recordings with assistance from Dan Feiszli and Steve Glaze. Head up booking of performances and promotion of music on radio, print and social media.

Band Director-Redwood Middle School (2012-present)
My duties here vary from leading rehearsal of the entire band and small group sectionals to assessing students in music theory and special pathway project assignments.

Band Director-University Preparatory Academy (2010-present)
My position teaching music through band includes starting beginning wind, percussion and bass players from scratch, up through advanced ensembles that compete and perform throughout California. Special emphasis is placed on student leadership, music composition, music literacy and performance. We are expanding to include out of state music performance.

Drum and Percussion Instructor- SJG School of Music (2006-present)
I teach drum and percussion techniques, reading and performance starting with beginning and intermediate students up through college preparation.

Freelance Drummer and Percussionist (1994-present)
Highlights of my freelance experience: I have worked under Eric Reed, Joshua Redman, Bob Kenmotsu, Mark Levine, Matthew Clark, Marcus Shelby, Howard Wiley, Kenny Brooks, Eric Crystal, Darrell Grant, Dayna Stephens, Bishop Norman Williams, Calvin Keys, Joe Mazzaferro and Joel Behrman.
